Too late!!

Hhahahaha there is a lot more after this post.. I'll post soon.. hopefully..

posto novas novidades soon!!

Hello!! So here is a little update on my first three weeks on the GEM. And I can really say life is good!! hehhehe until now everything is being great. We are having a slow week now, not many kids. Actually it’s almost like there is no kids at all, we sometimes have 9 counselors on duty and 7 kids playing… so, do the math. I am getting the hang of the job, do some games myself, and I already had 2 port plays all by myself, it is when we are on port we charge parents extra money to stay with the kids while they go out, or just go around the ship, and 2 late nights, when we also charge to stay with the kids after 10:30pm. Every other counselor I’ve met didn’t get to do those things before a month onboard, and I got all in 1 week and a half.. so I think I am good on it!.
3 weeks gone!! WOW… time flies in here, 3 weeks but it feels like more. We have everything in the ship, so I am always doing something, working, going to restaurants, going shopping, the gym ( not that I ever set foot in there, but ok!), dancing clubs, crew bar, crew market, theater, so much fun.
I already been to Split and Dubrovnik in Croatia, in Split I went in a passengers tour for the Krka National Park to see the awesome waterfalls, and in Dubrovnik I just walked around town with some friends. Been to some Greek Islands like Corfu, Mikonos, Santorini, Piraeus, Nafplion and this week I will go to Iraklion. And also Izmir in Turkey, where I got to go to the old city of Ephesus.
Sad part is that some of my, already, good friends are leaving soon, Sunshine from Ukraine, Kaboom from NY, and some other people I’ve met… that’s sad… but they have funny names don’t they! All the Youth Counselors have silly names, I am Rolly Polly, ok, take a minute to laugh, everybody does it. But it is funny and the kids like it.
I had a list in my head of fun and cool facts I’ve seen around here, but of course I forgot, so long I took to type this.. I’ll try to upload some pictures and maybe make a video o my cabin this week and post here!!
Missing everybody…Love
Roro…
Oiii.. update da minha vida no GEM.. A vida é boa! Yay me!

First day.. Primeiro Dia..

Hey, Hey!! No mar, (19:51 – Brasil / 23:51 Aqui!)

Vou dormir.. beijinhos..

Hey, Hey.. At sea (2:51pm – Seattle / 11:51pm here)

So, I just got back from my first day at “Work”.. OMG, it’s sooooo much things to learn!! I am the only new hire on my department, so I am the only one who doesn’t know a thing, which is bad.. but everybody is helping me a lot..
Well, I got here around 8:30am and went straight to Personel department, and there I started getting the yelling.. the Safety manager yelled at me because one of my certificate were missing, and he wouldn’t accept the copy. He was trying to scare me saying: “You shouldn’t have got on the ship if you don’t have your paperwork” until my supervisor got there and said: “She will come with me and do it online.. and it will be ok” and that’s what I’done… called home at around 5am in Brazil, to get a credits card number to get the course done… did it, passed it, and everything is fine now.
After that I went to get my uniforms, all the pants were huge, and I left at the tailor’s to get it fixed. All the new hires and some people that come from a ship with a different configuration from the GEM made a tour with the safety manager, yes the guy who yelled at me.. but he was nice this time. Around 6pm took a shower, had dinner and off to work.!! It is really a lot o things to learn, everybody had other contracts, so they know how to talk with the kids, what to do and everything else, it just watched it pretty much, but by the end of the night I was playing twister with some kids.. we stopped at 11pm and went to a guest’s restaurants to eat something.. everybody I know went to the crew bar, but I decided to stay in, I am not really comfortable yet, everybody is being really nice to me, but I already stalk them all day long, thought I should give them a rest tonight.

About the ship I can say that it is HUGE!!! Seriously… my cabin is for 4 person, but for now we are just 2 living here in this tiny area, I don’t know how we would do with 2 more people here.
About Seasickness.. I didn’t have at all, I haven’t even noticed that we were moving, just noticed when I went upstairs to get dinner and saw the sea moving!! Really.. this thing is huge… I can already find my way to the tailor/linen, to HR, staff mess (our restaurant) and lectures office..but on my first try to get to the kids center, guess what? I got lost ahahahah maybe tomorrow I’ll get it. Iam going to bed now.. Kisses.

Now in portuguese and English..

Hello Everybody!! Here I am at Rome’s Airport sitting down for more than an hour waiting for my connection flight to Venice. I am kindda scared but happy at the same time. Weird feelings going on here, and I am alone and can’t get the internet to work, so I am typing this on Word to post later on.
I am so anxious that I haven’t slept at all during the flight.. actually I slept 2 hours from the 11 hour flight, so I am extremely tired right now. Good thing I was sitting in the aisle and the passenger from the middle seat didn’t show up, so I had a little space. I will have today free in Venice and tomorrow I am joining the ship. I want to rest a little, but I don’t want to sleep the whole day, I will try to stay as much time awake as I can, so I don’t get jet lag tomorrow.
I don’t really have a lot of things to post. I do have, but it just slipped away from my mind :s Yes a 11 hour flight can make that with you.
There are two other Brazilians that will join a ship tomorrow and will spend today in Venice, they are going to work for Royal Caribbean, hopefully we’ll be able to get together and hang out today, once will be doing the same itinerary most of the time. Ok, so my boarding time is supposed to be in about 15 minutes, I’ll get my stuff together and get to the gate, and try to write something else before I join the ship..
So Iam back.. and there is nothing so bad that can’t get worse right? So my flight to Venice was supposed to leave at 9:20am, but we started getting on board as 9:25 :O we all got onboard and the captain says we got wait for someone that is late for some reason.. we wait.. after about 20 minutes he says that something is going on at Venice’s airport and we can only leave Rome after12:10pm !!!! oh no!!! so we were lucky (NOT) enough to be able to leave at 11:15am.. after we stayed all this time inside the plane with no A/c!! great hun???
So we get to Venice and we wait for about 45 minutes until our luggage gets to us.
At the airport I’ve met a brazilian guy from reception, and 2 Canadian girls that works with the same thing I’ll do for a long time.. one of them is my roommate at the hotel… they said I got the nicest ship to start..hope soo..
I am hungry.. but I don’t want to spend my money, I didn’t bring much.. and tomorrow, breakfast is 16 euros.. it’s a lot!

OMG, there is a lot of Youth Counselors here getting on the ship, but I think I am the only one for a first contract..sooo scared

Love you all!
Take care

Tempo é o que me falta agora!

Uhuu

Cruj Cruj Cruj.. Tchau!!
